While this US Secretary of Defense offers Moving Pride Message, Imagine a Romney DOD

Can you imagine Romney’s  Secretary of  Defense recognizing June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Month?  Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta thanks gay and lesbian service members for their dedicated service to the nation.

By Melanie Nathan, June 16,2012.

The US Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, sent a special message to America and the World. The Secretary wants to make America’s military a model of equal opportunity. “Diversity is one of our greatest strengths,”  noted Panetta. “During Pride Month lets celebrate our diversity and renew our commitment to equality for all.

I was especially moved by this video when I realized how much has changed for our service members in terms of acceptance in mere months since the repeal of “Don’t ask don’t tell.”

I imagined rolling back the clock to the old times and what it would be like if there were to be a Mitt Romney presidency.

Romney denotes a Presidency where, as commander in chief, he would be at odds with the military and this particular Secretary of Defense. He represents a commander in chief who would have America and the World believe that our service members, while willing to fight and die for this country and its Constitution, are not entitled to enjoy its equal protection.   What an insidious consequence!
