The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, to remember and honor every Nun of the Above
By Melanie Nathan, November 19, 2012.
They have supported us for over thirty years and now it is our chance, as the worldwide LGBT community, to show our love and thanks. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are creating a unique place of remembrance, hope, and healing within the National AIDS Memorial Grove, in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, to remember those whose lives were impacted by HIV/AIDS and a place to honor those who have passed on.
This will be the first community alter to remember The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a worldwide Order of 21st century nuns.
For over thirty years, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence have been at the forefront of the fight against HIV/AIDS, standing shoulder to shoulder with other artists, activists, and agents for change. Many of the members have been leaders in the cause, working on the front lines of the related issues and have vowed to continue the fight until there is a cure.
The Sisters who have done so much good for their communities through their worldwide order are now accepting gifts which will help the Sisters to honor those lost, each Nun, with a dedicated memorial boulder, engraved and prominently displayed within the Grove. An oasis of peace located in the heart of Golden Gate Park, the National AIDS Memorial Grove provides a place of respite from the heartache, a place to renew, a place to refresh…
The placing a monument to those who have passed, and most way too early, is an important opportunity to honor the work of the Sisters around the globe.
All donations to the “Nuns Rock” boulder through either the National AIDS Memorial Grove or the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and are tax deductible, according to the law, via the National AIDS Memorial Grove, a project of The Tides Center– Federal Tax I.D. #: 94-3213100
