Lying Dykes in Uganda | Pastor Promotes More Hate

Screen Shot 2012-12-17 at 7.55.17 AMBy Melanie Nathan, December 17, 2012.

After watching Pastor David Dykes from Texas, in the Video below, yet another U.S.A. pastor in Uganda, touting the legislature’s duty to pass the pending Anti-Homosexuality Bill, otherwise dubbed “The Kill the Gays Bill,” my original reaction was to ignore his babble and not give him media time.  However soon realized that as much as I would like to ignore his lying rant, I could not for the reasons outlined in this post.

Why give Pastor David Dykes the time of day one might ask? Is he not just another lying bigot using his so called pulpit and fundamentalist Christianity to spew hate in Uganda.  Just another lying bigot using his pulpit to try and influence legislation in a foreign country. Just another catalyst to further the persecution of Ugandan gays, while so insidiously disguised as the purveyor of G-d’s word.

Exposing his rhetoric and lies is imperative to the fight against the Anti-homosexuality Bill.  Much of what he says are lies and they are the same lies of Scott Lively ilk that got this Bill into the legislature in the first place.

Dykes wants you to believe that people in America and Canada will  get arrested under a “hate crime” when speaking out against homosexuality. That is an out and out lie.  There is no such ‘hate crime” as mentioned by David Dykes.  He has all the freedom of his religion that he needs.  He can go to Church and pray and preach and no one will stop him.

What he does not seem to understand or respect is the fact that sovereign countries and even his own country have laws pertaining to equality- even in the Ugandan constitution – to protect people from religious zealotry such as his. Laws that separate church dogma (interpretation) from civil and human rights. But he wants none of that. He wants his interpretation of Bible and his religion to govern our laws.

Why does he lie like this, and now? Because he fears that the Ugandan bill (AHB) is losing ground as the Ugandans realize that such a Bill is redundant, unconstitutional, against international treaties, and based on hate. If the Ugandan Kill the Gays Bill loses, so fades the hopes of the U.S. Evangelicals that countries in Africa could be used as prototypes for how the West should find final solution to not only to end the de jure quest for equality by gays, but also to end our de facto existence – yes by death to the sinners!

I spoke to Cathy Kristofferson, State Co-lead of GetEQUAL/MA, who has co-led many of the MA protests against Scott Lively and other US Pastors involved in the active campaign against Uganda’s gay community:-

“Watching the NTV video posted here, I thought Pastor David Dykes of Texas must be the second coming of Scott Lively, who is now subject of a lawsuit under the Alien Tort Act brought by the Center for Constitutional Research on behalf of Ugandan gay human rights defenders. The American Evangelicals must be in a panic that the Speaker Kadaga promised ‘Christmas gift’ was not delivered and so have sent in reinforcements on the outrageous lies front “at this time of crisis”.

No one is going to arrest Mr. Dykes for speaking out against marriage equality!  Not here or Canada and not now or “maybe soon” or whenever the ridiculously claimed ‘hate crime’ law he is lying about doesn’t come to fruition.”

I asked why should we pay attention to the lies he is spewing in some other country?

“Because if you’ve seen any of the quotes lately from the likes of Huckabee, Perkins, Lively, and others you will note that they want the same laws here in the US – A Kill The Gays Bill! – and are just using Uganda and other sovereign African nations at their testing grounds for the prototype bill.”

Watch the VIDEO:-

Kristofferson went on to say:

“The only blood money involved is that which he has promised the Ugandans ‘from individuals who have let it be known’ should foreign aid be cut due to the passage of the AHB.  And the blood spilled will be that of the Ugandan gay community’s due to the ever heightened homophobia fomented due to the hate and lies spread by the likes of David Dykes long before their own government even has the chance to legislate the death penalty or not! And you can be sure his visit was timed to help ensure that when the Ugandan Parliament comes back from recess the AHB will top the list of items to be debated.

It is also interesting that he claims he represents “the” church in America.   I always thought people here had freedom of religion to practice whatever religion they choose but I guess they are planning to change that soon too!”

This article is full of so much nonsense. Pastor Dykes was there for a Pastoral Ministries convention. The media confronted him with a question and he answered. He never said anything about killing gays. Only DEFENDING what the Bible says about the definition of marriage. Get your facts straight. It is the U.S. That is bullying Uganda to force beliefs on them and threat to lose financial support. Very sad.

Pastor Dykes lied about the law. Does the Bible condone lies? One only lies when one is trying to incite or spin something and he LIED. Check the law. Many people dont care about what the Bible says about Marriage because people live in the world entitled not to share YOUR religion. Those people are entitled to equality under the CIVIL law. Your pastor is imposing his religion on those people who OUGHT to be free to NOT have religion if they so choose, but should still have the laws applicable to couples living together. Secondly by supporting and asking for the anti0-homosexuality Bill he is in fact asking for the Ugandan Government to kill gays because that is what the Bill says. Sorry to Burst your bubble Faithful Servant

NO bubble bursted. It is you who are putting the spin on things and taking comments out of context. Never a word about killing Gays. It’s true that many don;t care about what the Bible says and that’s very sad.

The only one full of nonsense is Pastor dykes whose hate filled vitriol is now permeating the world.

Sorry FaithfulServant but the first sentence out of Pastor Dykes’ mouth is “I’m extremely upset that our state department is putting pressure on Uganda to recognize homosexual behavior. ” Nothing about marriage equality. Then he goes on to lie again with the ridiculous claim that “But there’s also maybe a law soon that says we could be arrested if we say anything bad about gay marriage or about homosexual behavior. It would fall under the category in America of “Hate Crimes.” What will the Phelps’ do now? Oh, and nice pun there with the ‘Get your fact straight’. Maybe you should go read about how Uganda didn’t have homophobia until American Evangelicals brought it with them. Even President Museveni admits to that!

        Thats correct CKInMA.

      • Faithful Servant December 18, 2012 at 6:47 AM #

And nothing said about killing Gays either. Wow, talk about putting a spin on things and reading into people comments. There was non-pun intended at all. I can see how a lot of people read into things what they want to. What ‘hate” are you all taking about? If you derive hate from his statement and opinion then the same can be said about your own, which is ludicrous to say that as well. there is no hate here. Only a disagreeing opinion of what is right and wrong.

THE BILL H IS ASKING THE UGANDANS TO PASS AND TELLING THE US TO STOP ADVOCATING AGAINST HAS AN EXECUTION FOR BEING GAY CLAUSE IN IT. THAT IS WHY HE is ASKING TO KILL GAYS, WHAT PART OF THAT DONT YOU UNDERSTAND?

    • Melanie Nathan December 17, 2012 at 5:06 PM #

Faithful servant I guess I am not the only poster who feels this way try reading Andrew Sullivan at http://andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2012/12/christianism-.html and if you google your friend’s name, you will probably see a barrage of commentary similar to mine. So my “nonsense” is well seated amongst an illustrious group of intelligent beings

      • Faithful Servant December 18, 2012 at 7:17 AM #

No you are not the only person that feels this way. And I am not the only person that feels the way I do. I’m sure there is commentary, and that’s all it is commentary, that would be similar and agree with either side. I’m sure you are a very intelligent person. I do not believe in killing ANYONE. I believe in forgiveness. I do not believe it was or IS Pastor Dykes intention to support killing either. And if all the facts were presented here instead of a random interview question or snippet, I honestly believe that is what would come to light. I think his opinion on the issue, encourages those that disagree with his opinion to look for the opportunity to accuse and discredit him. I’ve known the man for some time. I’ve heard him preach AGAINST the killing of others. I’ve heard him preach on the acceptance of all people. To see them as God sees them. And to pray for them. But acceptance doesn’t always mean agree. To forgive every fellow sinner, whether they be a non-believer or believer. I am as guilty as anyone about letting my own selfish wants get in the way of what is right. I pray that I and everyone can see past ourselves and hold ourselves accountable for our mis-steps. I pray that more and more people will recognize the Bible as truth and not just take certain pieces of the Bible or mis-interpret or use pieces of it without truly searching for the author’s intention and not trying to make it what we WANT it to mean. And please don’t quote from the Old Testament without reading the New Testament. That’s the worst way to take things out of context. It’s like reading the first half of a book and stopping and thinking that that is how the book ends. I apologize if you take offense to my opinion of the article being nonsense. However that is not all your fault. You present some facts but not ALL the facts. And without all the facts then there is not complete truth, but only partial truth.

        • Melanie Nathan December 19, 2012 at 7:17 AM #

ignorant” I’ve heard him preach AGAINST the killing of others. ” You maye heard him preach against the killing of others but let me tell you I have heard the VIDEO I just posted here and its loud and clear. He is asking the US State department to stop interfering in the AHB which is known as THE KILL THE GAYS BILL. Your argument does not wash – the same pastors such as Scott Lively who have always promoted KILL THE GAYS BILL also have been known to “preach against the killing of others” – such as being pro life etc – but when it comes to homosexuality and their ignorant views on it they dont seem to care….. In fact when the anti-gay war was started by Jerry Falwell and Dobson they used words such as “execute the sinner” – and your friend Mr. Dykes is cut from the same clothe. Sorry to say and now you too I guess by your vehement denial and defense of this hyperbolic rhetoric !

        • Melanie Nathan December 19, 2012 at 7:20 AM #

AND EXCUSE ME Why should I quote from the New testament. Jesus is not my god nor the son of my god nor the messiah. not in my belief system- so why should I let your belief system govern my life? Hence Freedom of religion! Hence keep your religion out of my civil rights. The only truth I see is the Freedom to live and let live and my right to happiness in parity with yours.

ANd now the REST of the story…

    http://www.12newsnow.com/story/20368373/east-texas-pastor-involved-in-africa-homosexuality-debate

    • Melanie Nathan December 19, 2012 at 7:29 AM #

Actually The Article to which you refer is misleading. The Death portion has not been taken out of the Bill because its is procedurally impossible to to take out until the second reading in a parliamentary debate. So many websites are saying the death penalty is out because the Legal Affairs committee chair says that the recommendation to take it out has been made, AND the author – the very lying sinister David Bahati says it will come out – YET it is not out as it is impossible to take out of the draft until all the process can be accomplished – if at all. Nonetheless when you give Life imprisonment you may as well still call it KILL THE GAYS, Did you know faithful servant that the Bill also says that if you know someone who is gay and do not report them within 24 hours for being gay, whether you are a doctor, a mother, a brother or sister or co-worker of that person, you are mandated to go to jail for 3-4 years! I do not see The Pastor Dykes say that he does not support the bill on the TV clip, with my own eyes. – and he shoulld have made ethat clear had it been true. The report you give is wrong plain wrong proved by their ignorance of the procedures.
