Ugandan Musician Calls President Obama a Faggot

Wine Whines about Obama speaking out for the well-being of persecuted Africans | Please sign petition at bottom of post to ensure Wine  never gets the chance to whine on an American or EU stage!

Screen Shot 2013-07-01 at 8.13.46 AMPresident Obama spoke out on his current trip to Africa about dignity and respect for Africa’s LGBTI people: ““People should be treated equally, and that’s a principle that I think applies universally,” he said.

Some Africans, on a continent that hosts the death penalty and severe prison terms for LGBTI people, did not take well to the President’s remark.

The clash about whether or not the human right to one’s sexuality is indeed a human right worthy of international outcry, with mistreatment considered a breach of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, seems to have triggered the long brewing war of cultures on the issues.

But did a Ugandan award winning musician have to go so far as to insult the visiting U.S. President?

The friction, in sum: – African  countries tout their sovereignty when legislating sexuality as a crime. The West believes that the treatment of gay people and their right to their sexuality falls withing the framework of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other basic and inherent human rights.

Insulting President Obama and riding the crest of the wave is a Ugandan musician Bobi Wine, born Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, a four time Pearl of Africa Award winner, who in whining about President Obama’s concern for gay Africans did not mince his words with a homophobic rant, calling President Obama a “faggot”.

Perhaps Wine is angry about more than just the ideal of protecting gay people in Africa from persecution, as his tirade may be exacerbated by his anger over the apparent denial of his VISA to the U.S.A. to perform in a June 08 concert, based on an alleged confession by Wine that he was a drug user.

Bobi Wine posted this on his Facebook page and note the screens hots and comments that followed the post.

Screen Shot 2013-06-30 at 11.16.36 PM“So Obama comes to Africa with his wife and kids to promote homosexuality? With all problems of malaria, aids, poverty, dictatorship, human traficking and modern day slavery, he chooses to come and fight the basic unit of society, the family. Oh what a shame. Obama you can be a fagot and a hypocrite, but pliz keep off our children, our morality and our culture…”

And the comments that follow this remarks -

Currently the anti-Homosexuality Bill, otherwise known as The Kill the Gays Bill, is still before the Ugandan Parliament and may come up at any time on the Order Papers for a further reading leading toward a vote passage. Over 80% of Ugandans support and favor passage of the Bill. There is also a movement afoot, even within Africa, to thwart passage of the Bill and to educate against its passage.

One country on the President’s tour, South Africa, has full equality enshrined in its law, through a constitution that includes sexual orientation and gender identity.  It seems that the scales all over Africa are tilted toward anti-gay sentiment and violence.

I hope that comments like this and the disgusting responses that it invoked, will add to the Obama administration’s realization that we need to do a great deal more by way of funding and procedures to help LGBTI people in Africa, and especially those desperately seeking refuge and asylum in the United States of America.

My message to Bob Wine:- You don’t belong touring the world if you cannot be a man of the world- The world you want to tour respects the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and is evolving on the expression of equality. We abhor homophobia -. Hence stay away Bobi Wine and and remain in your small isolated world…. do not bring your homophobia to our social media – and so I support -

PETITION:

“We call on European countries (UK, The Netherlands, France, Sweden, Denmark & All others) and the United States, to ban him from entering their countries. This will partially reduce the likes of him from using social media to promote homophobia…”

We need to learn to be cautious in speech and action. How we project our prejudices and therefore pre-meditated justifications to do something to harm others can back-fire. While the USA and the world is reeling against the N-word, now we see the F-word, murders and lynchings here and there all in the name of ‘we are righteous and they are the sinners.’ Indeed there are issues continents should deal with, especially poverty but as long as equality is not made universal even the standards of living will remain abysmal. Sexuality, orientation, gender and health are such pillars we need to address if we want to have enduring equality.

It’s so typical of the people who turn out to dictate that same-sex attraction is “against the order of nature” (sic) – something I read & hear often- yet, these same ones don’t go off their nut attacking Monsanto for genetically engineering our actual FOOD- & I’m positive THAT’S against the “order”. Likewise, cars, aeroplanes, televisions- nope, none of these in nature, at all…

What gives a person any more right to oversee & sit in judgement of a persons private, consensual attraction to another person? The point? They DON’T have that right.

People such as Bob Wine & those commenting on his pitiful & pathetic remarks need to take care of their own home & leave their snouts & their minds out of others.

This may be the 21st century but some individuals are still too far in the 17th or even more. I don’t know how one who clIms to be educated to be so blatant and too dafty about human nature I believe Mr. Kyagulanyi or whoever he is think he is but all in all one will try all but the LGBT Community will stay no matter what. Way to go Mr. Obama

Faggot doesn’t seem quite like an insult coz it means a burning log which in some cultures is a recognition of honour except that he called him fagot.

    • Melanie Nathan July 3, 2013 at 10:05 PM #

NOT Where we COME FROM…. and Mr. BOBI WINE knew what he meant and it was nothing to do with burning logs and everything to do with insulting him….. stop making excuses for that disgusting comment

HIs remarks, I assure you has nothing to do with is Culture or his placement on the African Continent. It is all about his wasted out morals and his “over the counter band aid” religious views. This piece of dog shit does not have a moral bone in his body. I feel sorry for his children though.

Bobi Wine you look gay, come out of the closet and stop hating on your fellow gays! Just look at you, you look so gay!

President Obama, his wife, and his kids should have kept their heads out of Africa’s affairs as far as promoting same-sex marriage is involved.

    • Melanie Nathan August 19, 2013 at 3:16 PM #

How did they promote same-sex marriage in Africa? In Afrcia people are persecuted for being gay. Not persecuted because they want same-sex marriage. Just for being who te are. So do you think it is okay to make criminals out of good people – who hurt no one?
