U.S. Christian Extremist Sees Russia’s New Homophobic Laws as Model

“I can’t point to any country of the world today that is a model for the rest of the world, except perhaps for Russia” Scott Lively, radical Christian extremist

For a while we have been following the ramped up anti-gay extremism taking place in Russia, which culminated with the recent passage of anti-gay legislation in Russia.  Today we updated a story here on OBLOGDEE about Dutch tourists who had been arrested and detained on  so called ‘gay propaganda’ charges, telling how they were released following the international outcry.

Today the New York Times ran a piece by Harvey Fierstein titled “Russia’s Anti-Gay Crackdown” in which he reviews all of the homophobic laws passed in Russia this year and goes on to describe Putin’s  anti-gay campaign as “taken straight from the Nazi playbook.”

We at OBLOGDEE have been calling for boycotts of the Russian Sochi Olympics because of the odious discrimination and violence against Russia’s LGBT community and the danger to foreign visitors and athletes, alike.

Buzzfeed has published a visual photo expose of the homophobic violence that has erupted in Russia over the last two years.

And all the while a U.S. radical Christian fundamentalist extremist is reacting to these visuals and news by singing praise and hoping more countries will see Russia as a model for how gays and lesbians should be treated around the world.  Indeed it would seem that once communist Russia is Scott Lively’s last beacon of hope.

Scott Lively, the ‘Pink Swastika’ of Nazi revisionist fame and profoundly an everyday gay-hater, has posted his usual pungent brag on his blog:-

“I can’t point to any country of the world today that is a model for the rest of the world, except perhaps for Russia, which has just taken the very important and frankly necessary step of criminalizing homosexual propaganda to protect the society from being “homosexualized.” This was one of my recommendation to Russian leaders in my 50-city tour of the former Soviet Union in 2006 and 2007.”

He claims his response is for an Hungarian magazine looking for a comment on whether there is any country in the world today where traditional family values and gay rights are regulated by the law in a balanced way. BALANCED!

On his blog, he delivers yet another ‘Letter to the People’,   in which he opines about “the 1940s and 50s, when the stated goal of the homosexual movement was “the right to be left alone.

He follows that up with this claim:

“However, the spirit of homosexuality is rebellion, not self-restraint, so in every society which it enters as a political movement it begins with an appeal for tolerance but quickly escalates to a demand for acceptance, then celebration of its perverse culture, then dominance of its culture, especially over children, and finally, when it has sufficient political control, the punishment of all dissenters.”

And of course his manipulative myth “they’re coming for your children” – just as he did in Uganda, where it worked to entice inroduction of ‘The Kill the Gays Bill.’ Something he undoubtedly secretly prays for as he well knows where his rhetoric leads.

And this missionary and preacher akin to his own ‘promoting and recruiting’ mode of operation now projects on the LGBT community his ways, by claiming “From the United States the “gay” movement has sent missionaries of evil to many countries around the world to transform them in their own image.

However this extremist is the one to be called ‘the missionary of evil,’ because it is he who is spreading that vile homophobic hatred worldwide.

One can only ask, “Scott Lively have you seen photos of the hatred against the LGBT community in Russia.  Is this what you are bragging about having contributed to and is that what you consider the perfect model for the rest of the world?”

Melanie Nathan, comments that “by calling the Russian law a model Scott Lively is saying that he endorses the treatment you see in these photos as an acceptable enforcement of his ideals for Christian beliefs and Christianity per se.”

Lively’s advice for the people of Hungary today?

“I strongly advise that you adopt an anti-propaganda law similar to what Russia has recently passed, to stop the “gay” agenda from advancing any further that it may already have done.”

By saying this, what Scott Lively is really saying is that he would like to see more of those violent pictures like he just saw in Russia… all around the world.

While Lively keeps asserting his rights to freedom of religion and speech, he works so hard at taking freedoms away from others, even across the great ocean where he has no other business than to spread his hate, and in doing so we, America are indulging in the export of hate.

And so once again I ask will the American Government continue to remain silent or at least charge some export duty on this one.

Of course, he’s proud of the Russian law to suppress speech – he’s been advocating for it for years. See his “Letter to the Russian People” ( http://www.defendthefamily.com/pfrc/archives.php?id=5225300 )in which he advised: “Third, criminalize the public advocacy of homosexuality… The easiest way to discourage “gay pride” parades and other homosexual advocacy is to make such activity illegal in the interest of public health and morality.”
