Global Day of Action Against Uganda’s Anti-Gay Law

By Cathy Kristofferson, March 5, 2014

Today is the Global Day of Action Against Uganda’s Anti-Gay Law. Actions were seen at the Ugandan Embassy in Washington, D.C., in New York City at the Permanent Mission of Uganda to the UN, and at Scott Lively’s Holy Grounds Coffee House in Springfield, MA.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni signed the country’s draconian anti-gay bill into law last Monday. Those accused can now get from 7 years to life imprisonment under very harsh conditions. “Promotion” of homosexuality is also outlawed, thus paving the way for further health catastrophes involving HIV/AIDS prevention. People are already being beaten and arrested on a whim.

In Washington, D.C. another trip to the Ugandan Embassy was made to deliver a 2nd eviction notice (the first notice was delivered last week):

Also delivered was a ‘Top 200 homophobes” version of the notorious ‘Red Pepper’ tabloid long known for publicly outing real and perceived members of Uganda’s LGBTI community. They were convicted of wrongdoing for the infamous “Hang Them” edition printed just prior to the murder of David Kato. The Red Pepper has been merciless in their persecution of the LGBTI community since the day President Museveni signed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill into law on February 24th. Red Pepper has printed names, addresses, and pictures causing countless LGBTI people to flee their homes and hide, or become victims of vigilante street justice.

In Springfield, MA protesters rallied at Scott Lively’s Holy Grounds Coffee House to highlight his involvement in anti-gay activities in Uganda. His ‘activities’ have resulted in a lawsuit charging Crimes Against Humanity, which are currently being brought against him.

Protesters in New York City rallied at Permanent Mission of Uganda to the UN. The U.N. has spoken out loudly against Uganda and the violation of human rights the Anti-Homosexuality Law is.

This is priceless. Love the Old Angry Lesbian.org posting. Melanie, are you prepared to take on an even larger profile? As you can see, the USA needs a band leader.

Bravo sisters and brothers in the struggle. You have done us gay Ugandans proud. Even if our flesh and blood is not looking out for us, there are genuine brothers and sisters out there who care about our welfare. A big thank YOU. We shall forever be indebted to you for this gesture of love and care.

    Cheers.

YES and you enjoy persecuting your own brothers and sisters,. Should we have left Germany to Hitler and allowed him to KILL more Jews? Should we have left the USA to the salve masters? You are pretty screwed up in your thinking. So accept the isolation you will get because we will fight for GAY Ugandans who also love their country. But they are being rejected by their own. The same way as Germany rejected its own! You are now more than Nazis with this new law. One day your eyes will be opened. Jesus will not forgive you for this one. It is NOT what Jesus preached.

Just to quote Jesus: “He who hates his brother is a murderer.” (Matt) and don’t give me the old “I love the sinner but hate the sin.” Putting someone in jail and plastering 200 pictures of suspected gays *with their addresses” is hardly a loving and humanitarian thing to do.
The problem is that Ugandans are brain-washed with special chosen passes of Sctipture. How about these? “God is Love.” John 1.
        Do not judge.
And do read the Story of the Good Samaritan. Just substitute homosexual when you read it. The Samaritans were the homosexuals of Jesus’ time…by that I mean, the Samaritans were the most “unclean” and despised. Yet, Jesus makes the Samaritan the hero…and he shows two religious leaders walking by the man who lay dying. These religious men could quote Scripture just like Ugandan (USA sponsored) preachers, but they have no love in their hearts. http://stories4hotbloodedlesbians.com NOT a porn site but a home for persecuted lesbians. Jesus also said, “When you do it to the least (the bottom rung of society) my brother, you do it unto me.” What can’t Christian Ugandans understand about these passages

Museveni is worth 1.7 billion and is the 12th richest man in Africa – Since he is now a international terrorist, can’t his assets be frozen?

      YES

Melanie, briefly what are the steps involved when an American sues a Ugandan newspaper?
