“But resistance is NOT futile and we must never surrender to evil.”
By Cathy Kristofferson, July 2, 2013
Posting on his blog today, SPLC-designated anti-gay hater Scott Lively boasted that his prediction came to fruition; yes he was right that one of the two SCOTUS marriage cases did indeed “go to the homosexual movement.” But he was actually wrong we won two out of two – both the Prop 8 and DOMA cases brought wins for the U.S. LGBT Equality movement.
The sad, and worrying, thing in his post was:
“I have just returned from a nine-stop speaking tour in Nebraska, which is now on-board with the First Amendment strategy, along with Oklahoma and Missouri. I am looking for more invitations to conservative states where we can put these in place as a roadblock to the homosexualization of those states and perhaps build some momentum in the other direction.”
Sorry to the equality minded folks in those target states; now you have to deal with the notorious hatemonger. And head’s up to all everywhere; be mindful of the arrival of Lively in the remaining 34 states which have yet to accomplish marriage equality.
Lively’s five-country speaking tour through the former Soviet Union (FSU), complete with instructional videos, has no doubt contributed to the so-called anti-gay ‘propaganda’ laws now implemented in multiple cities and nationwide in Russia itself, with much of Russia’s anti-gay animus attributable to Putin of course – a deadly combo.
Lively is, of course, pushing his First Amendment Supremacy Clause in these U.S. states. We reported on this effort where it started in Oklahoma here on OBLOGDEE back in April. The gist of his strategy is that religious bigotry trumps all.
“Under no circumstance shall sexual orientation regulations supersede the First Amendment rights of individuals, churches and religious organizations to freedom of speech and freedom of religion. For the purpose of this amendment religious organizations are those whose policies or culture are substantially influenced by religious values including but not limited to Christian bookstores, adoption agencies, hospitals, non-profit and for- profit companies, social organizations and Christian student clubs on college campuses.”
Lively touts the ‘pro-family’ battle as if at Churchill’s last stage:
“You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”
Slaves to their own anti-gay hatred, I presume. There will be no evolution of thinking on the ‘pro-family’ movement’s part as we have seen with their outrageous reactions to the DOMA and Prop8 decisions. It is on those of us in the pro-equality movement – the “homofascists” – to stay strong, vigilant and continue our own battle for freedom and full equality, because Lively’s call to battle is thus:
“Let me also introduce the idea here that states with a state DOMA should use those statutes as a legal foundation and justification to create mandatory age-appropriate curricula for every grade level to educate the children about the meaning and importance of authentic marriage and how to prepare themselves for healthy and happy marriage in their own future. This will at the very least strengthen if not actually immunize many children from the influence of sexual anarchy and “gay” propaganda.”
See you in the trenches.
