Uganda has put together what amounts to porn patrol and they are using a potty mouthed pastor, and known homosexuality hate peddler, to pound the pavement, seeking transgressors of a law that has sat idle for a couple of years!

According to the Ugandan press the Information & National guidance minister, Gen. Jim Muhwezi, has announced a Pornography Control Committee which is to be monitored by the Ugandan Government. Appointed by the Cabinet is controversial Past Martin Sempa, otherwise known as “EAT DA POOPOO SSEMPA,”  to a nine-member team established to monitor pornographic material in Uganda, with the hope that perpetrators will be apprehended and prosecuted.

The Committee is chaired by Dr. Annette Kezaabu Kasimbazi and its members include Sempa, Dalton Opwonya, Sheik Mohammad Ali Waiswa, Joan Kyomugisha, Gastone Byamugisha, Hafisa Kabagonja, Victoria Sentamu and Fred Nyakori.

Section 3 of the Ugandan Anti-Pornography Act 2014 provides for the setting up of the committee with a sole purpose of overseeing and implementing the anti porn law.  The other roles of the committee, apparently include sensitization of the public about dangers of pornography.

What is so ironic and perhaps somewhat disturbing to any human with a true moral compass, is the exorbitant cost to enforce it. While too many Ugandans remain unemployed, while women enter prostitution to feed their children – because men do not pay child support- and Uganda’s Parliament was never able to pass the  Marriage Bill that would hold them accountable, and while people cannot afford basic medical attention, with an astronomically high infant mortality rate, Fr. Simon Lokodo, the state minister for ethics and integrity, tabled before Parliament an obscene two billion Ugandan Shilling request to procure machines that Government can use to detect pornography.

There seems to be some moral neglect in the conscience of those who decided Ssempa was THE one for this very responsible role of porn policeman – lest we forget his criminal conviction in 2012 when he was found guilty of a conspiracy with other luminary homophobes , to tarnish the reputation of a fellow pastor, Robert Kayanja, who they accused of “sodomizing” boys at a church. Yes Ssempa is a criminal. Yes Ssempa is a proven liar.

As it happens Ssempa has another expert trait he can bring to the porn patrol gang. He knows exactly what gay men do in their bedrooms, and he has led the world to believe that he is indeed the expert.  Remember “EAT DA POOPOO” SSEMPA?   When the 2014 Bill was passed it struck me that Ssempa ought to be the first target of its judicious intent.  What amounts to porn demonstrations adorn You Tube and other public domains, courtesy Ssempa’s  direct accounts about how gay men have sex. I have often wondered whether he derived these explicit sordid descriptions from experience or perhaps his own lewd fantasies.

So in 2014 I wrote about Ssempa wondering if he would be arrested for what to me seemed likely porn and hence transgressions under the new Act. Back in 2014 I wrote that perhaps:

“the first to be arrested really ought to be that vile and putrid gay obsessed gay hater, Martin Ssempa, and his disgusting public porn displays.  He has been on TV with his vulgarity as well as in Church.    Perhaps he will finally have to watch his mouth and graphics. Renowned for his visual denigration of gays, through pornography, in Churches workshops and on TV, this Pastor will have to watch himself, as while he accuses gays of indecency, just by virtue of their existence, he is the one with the potty mouth and he would now be the one breaking the law.”

Most gay men I know would never have the audacity to say or to do what Ssempa has found so easy and comfortable doing in public venues, when he vividly describes homosexual sex acts. HA! And now he is on the Porn Committee – what an irony – “The King of Homosexual Porn” – now on Pron Patrol.

Maybe one day Ssempa will need to turn to the U.S. for refuge. He says he deplores Western values and blames the USA for all homosexuality in Uganda.  Yet, together with his American wife and children, they visit the in-laws often in the U.S.A., using their American passports.    Since being subpoenaed to testify in the case of SMUG vs Scott Lively, where Lively is being sued in the U.S. under the Alien Tort Act for crimes against humanity, Ssempa, his old buddy and fellow homosexuality hate peddler, seems to be a no- show!

My feeling is Ssempa’s  sleazy criminal past has yet to be fully explored and I can see him on the run in the not too distant future begging for American shores!
