As noted by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) who voted against David Friedman to be the U.S. ambassador to Israel:
“David Friedman is far too divisive to serve in one of our nation’s most sensitive diplomatic positions. His dangerous views and hateful rhetoric will further destabilize this already volatile region.
“On issue after issue facing Israel, Mr. Friedman takes extreme positions that will move the two parties further from peace. From his direct support for settlements to his calls for relocating our embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Mr. Friedman has proved that he cannot be a neutral arbiter of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“In fact, Mr. Friedman has outright dismissed decades of foreign policy consensus by rejecting the two-state solution, calling it a ‘scam’ designed only to cultivate a narrative of an ‘illusory solution in search of a non-existent problem.’ The only way to ensure Israel remains both Jewish and democratic is through a two-state solution.
“President Trump nominated someone completely unfit to serve as our ambassador to Israel. I cannot in good conscience support this nomination.”
