By Melanie Nathan, June 25, 2013. Three members of GetEqual were arrested an hour ago in a GetEQqual protest action Marco Rubio’s office in Tampa where they protested to draw attention to his antiquated and anti-gay stances on immigration reform and employment discrimination.
Those participating in the action and arrested we believe are Barb GetEqual Lawrence, Kimmy GetEqual Denny and Jarrod GetEqual Scarbrough.
GetEQUAL:
“Rubio you can’t state your bigotry & hate any clearer! It’s sad when one minority discriminates against another! Beyond offering undocumented immigrants a road map to citizenship, the bill before the Senate also offers critical safeguards to LGBT seeking protection in the United States from the dozens of countries that criminalize homosexuality.
It also helps protect LGBT individuals in immigration detention facilities, who are often at a high risk for abuse, mistreatment, and physical and sexual violence. Employment discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers is pervasive and harmful. It violates core American values of fairness and equality by discriminating against qualified individuals based on characteristics unrelated to the job.
Currently, 29 States have no laws protecting gay and lesbian workers from discrimination in the workplace, and an additional 5 States don’t protect workers based on gender identity.”
Call Rubio’s office & Demand Rubio support ENDA & Include LGBT in CIR (813) 977-6450
UPDATED: Via twiiter “Though not arrested, @GetEQUAL tweets the 3 activists at Rubio’s #Tampa office were led away and given court notices”
To my way of thinking if you cuff someone and lead them away you are arresting them. So maybe Rubio and police are trying to downplay.

Standing up to Sen. Rubio’s refusal to stand up for LGBT immigrant rights or LGBT non-discrimination policy.
