San Rafael, CA – The Marin County Board of Supervisors conducted its annual reorganization on January 4 and voted District 4’s Steve Kinsey as its President during his final year as a Board member. Kinsey, first elected in 1996, announced in early December that he would not seek another term.
In addition, District 5 Supervisor Judy Arnold was voted First Vice President and District 1 Supervisor Damon Connolly was voted Second Vice President.
Kinsey succeeded District 2’s Katie Rice as Board President and is accepting the role for a fifth time (previously 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2012). Kinsey’s district includes the rural areas of West Marin, representing about two-thirds of the county’s area, but it also includes Corte Madera, San Quentin Village, the Canal neighborhood of San Rafael, Western Novato and parts of Larkspur.
After the other four Supervisors made comments about the County’s achievements in 2015 and priorities for 2016, Kinsey mentioned focus areas such as housing, homelessness, transportation and social inequity as issues he’s eager to address in the year ahead.
“I think we should focus on what we can achieve, tackle differences in ways that are fair and inclusive, and extend our public outreach as much as we can,” Kinsey said.
