Uganda Parliament to Debate Anti-Homosexuality Bill Next Week

The Anti-homosexuality Bill has become known as the Kill-The-Gays-Bill and has caused an international outcry.

by Melanie Nathan, 02/04/2012 7:00 AM

Uganda’s, Anti Homosexuality bill of  2009 is due for debate when parliament resumes business in Uganda next week, according to a source who made contact with me.  This Bill includes the death penalty for “aggravated homosexuality” and harsh prison terms for homosexuals and lesbians in Uganda, where homosexuality is currently criminal under the less definitive law of “crimes against the natural order.”

The controversial bill that raised public debate during the 8th Parliament is back again, just as many thought it’s recent “shelving” meant it would never return.

At this time it will be considered by the Business Committee as to when it will be on the Parliament program according to information which means it could come to the Parliament floor soon.

In a letter to MPs on the committee from the office of the Clerk to Parliament, the meeting is scheduled for Monday next week and it will supposedly consider the legislative program for the 3rd meeting of the 1st session of the 9th Parliament.

Despite calls from international human rights activists, donors and LGBTI communities, condemning the Bill, the Anti-Homosexuality bill 2009, introduced by the Uganda’s Ndorwa West Member of Parliament, David Bahati is one of the bills to be considered on the agenda.

Another controversial Bill, the Marriage and Divorce Bill 2009, which is being pushed for by women rights groups to reform and consolidate laws relating to marriage, separation and divorce. However religious leaders have voiced strong objections to that bill, noting that the clause that recognizes cohabitation as a form of marriage is in breach of their religious beliefs.

It seems like religious leaders in Uganda, who have opted against the Divorce Bill are more comfortable opposing cohabitation than they are opposing the government sanctioned killing of homosexuals.

This is a joke right? I can’t believe that a country would be so opposed to a natural attraction towards the same sex.

As Ugandans who believe in our values and God Given responsibility to the light of the world, we believe homosexuality is a western thing where people believe they have a right to do anything disregarding morality and cultural values and of course God. Good luck all u countries with your lack of morality as for Uganda and the rest of Africa don t bother telling us being gay is a human right, its not and it will never be it is just a free air ticket to HELL.

Hell belongs to genocidal maniacs, like you. There is nothing scriptural about what you are saying. Not a single biblical line supports any of your claims. You are lying brilliantly; making things up like a fabulous storyteller. And you know it. Shame on you.

      • bill February 27, 2012 at 4:46 AM #

        Homosexuality is the ultimate genocide.

bill stult – As the Moderator I regret to inform you that unfortunately the remainder of your comments are not going to be posted on this site until you are willing to provide your real name to back the hate you preach.

    • Citrakayah February 6, 2012 at 4:40 PM #

Well, that’s just too bad, because you need something a bit stronger than personal opinion to kill people.

    • Debbie February 6, 2012 at 6:51 PM #

“Homosexuality is a western thing.’ Hmm, and I thought Moses was leaving Africa when Leviticus was written. Silly me.

    • R h February 6, 2012 at 7:02 PM #

Good luck with the witchcraft poverty and disease, You know every one laughs at your country right. Even the Swiss and Kenyans.

    • Melanie Nathan February 6, 2012 at 11:36 PM #

Arsenal 4ever – What you clearly don’t understand is that the West sees are millions of very poor people in Uganda – where women are forced into prostitution, young girls die in childbirth by the scores every week, and children in Uganda are raped by straight men. All the time! Yet we see and hear nothing about homosexual people causing harm or being the cause of harm.

The Bible says that eating shell fish is an abomination; and yet I do not see a law in Uganda that sends people to jail for eating shell fish! Please tell me what is the logic?

Homosexuality was never “brought” to Africa it was born on that continent – and occurred long before it was ever a glint the eye of the west! So please the behavior existed because it is natural.

I believe God made all people in God’s image and so as a lesbian I am no different to you a straight person I presume! I must be just perfect, like you are too! ( my sexual orientation – that is, who I am attracted to, was not contrived – not something I would choose nor influenced by anyone to pursue! It just was there!

You are totally incorrect in your interpretation of the Word of GOD.THe spirit of darkness can never comprehend the Spirit of Light. Homosex men rape everyday in america. Satan hates all humanity it is his mission to destroy all that he can.
Homosexuality is a product of Satan and a perversion of GODS natural design for humanity. You owe your very existence to heterosex as all other folk in the LBGT community do.
Homosex is the ultimate form of genocide. it is the most dangerous because it is self inflicted disguising its vileness as something desirable.Homosex has not produced ONE Human BEING.
GOD DID NOT CREATE LESBIANS OR GAY MEN.THOSE ARE SATANS SEEDS.Any THING that doesnt produce life is an enemy of GOD.

Start with Gen 1 and you will see the original commandments. read for yourself sis.Jesus truly loves you and will reveal His truth to you if you are truly seeking for HIM.If you are not desiring truth, well….

        • Melanie Nathan February 27, 2012 at 9:16 AM #

Well allow me to correct you. I have a beautiful daughter who is now six years of age. With great thanks to the kindness of men who donate sperm to sperm banks, I was able to choose my donor and my procreated! Your argument, falls away. The Bible ought to be treated as a “living” document. One that evolves with science and time! Your argument defies reality band logic and really simply spews ignorance and hate. I am not going to allow any more of your comments on my website until you have the courage to come on here with your real name from now on. This is a forum for fair discussion and not hate. It is a great shame to religion that you use it to tout your fear and your disregard for humanity!

    • Lee Dorsey February 8, 2012 at 11:08 AM #

@Aresnal WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN. This bill has been debated for YEARS. Want to stop it? HELP. …But I don’t recommend signing the Care 2 Pettion above
Waiting for link on CHANGE Petition…

BUT IT IS AVAAZ with its 2,000,000 sigs that got it stopped last time.

      • Lee Dorsey February 8, 2012 at 11:09 AM #

Well, AVAAZ and statedept. Note also in next blog both Starbucks and Barclays Bank are commercial partners of UGANDAN Govt!! Lean on them!

      • Melanie Nathan February 8, 2012 at 4:04 PM #

I am not sure that signatures will stop the Bill this time; it may be too far gone! They also are ‘backlashing’ against the West by making a show of sovereignty. However we will have to protest physically, the good old fashion way, and get a lot of mainstream press attention. Funny how I was able to talk to the author of the Bill himself, yet CNN could not get a comment? I also reported this last week and mainstream is onloy just getting it. Because its imminent we need to ask State department what their plan is to change the regs. to help LGBT people out of tere, if they want.

    • Melanie Nathan February 27, 2012 at 9:06 PM #

I think he God given morality you speak about Arsenal forever was also another Western Import – Christianity is not an innate African value but rather that which missionaries brought via colonialism you choose to abhor. Christianity is about as Western as you can get and your anti-homosexuality argument is entirely Western.

      • bill stult February 28, 2012 at 3:37 AM #

        My dear Girl,
the entire old testament takes place on the continent of Africa,
Why dont you leave the bible out of your discussion. be cause your lack of knowledge is appalling.
there was no middle east until 1948.
Euro myths, lies, fable again. the majority of Europeans were into witchcraft, paganism.
Monotheism originated in Africa. Christianity originated in Africa.
THIS IS SO DISAPPOINTING. I have no problems with differing opinions. THE lack of knowledge on this blog is appalling. no one says anything of substance.

        • Melanie Nathan February 28, 2012 at 2:26 PM #

First off, I am not your dear and least of all am I a girl! So your lack of respect sets you apart from most commentators who are polite.

The story of the Bible of course started in parts of Africa – I made no reference to middle east anywhere – only you did!. But the written Bible was brought back to Africa by Christian missionaries. I am referring to the teaching, not to the events per se. The story of Christianity did indeed originate in the top portions of Africa however the modern evangelical Christian message and written Bible to which my article refers did not! Simple!

This basic understanding of this concept could be the determination of one’s intelligence! You seem to equate the two! This Blog is not about the Bible and all the preaching stuff you commented directly from it – which I have not put up because any idiot can open a Bible and read it.

Sorry to disappoint you but This is a private BLOG which I proudly own. Unfortunately for you I get to choose what I want to put up and have already allowed you enough of your hate filled voice – mostly for my own amusement and for others to see why we are so justified in fighting our cause! You see it is people like you who spur me and many other on to fight the good fight.

So if you find the lack of knowledge here appalling, you have an entire web to find those who fit your needs. This is probably the wrong place for you and I suggest you go elsewhere. You know my name and I do not know your real name so we are not communicating on even ground. AND when you have the courage to reveal your real name maybe I will give you a voice again – but not until then so adios. PS I was born in African!

          • bill stult February 28, 2012 at 5:18 PM #

            I apologize Melanie,
It was careless of me to call you a girl. being born in Africa does not make you an have my email and my name that is all you need.i do not use profanity or negative terminolgy. What i write my mother can read.
The apostle Paul was a black man. the Ethiopia is home to the oldest christian church in the World.they possess the the entire canon of scripture which is why Rome attacked them in world wars 1 and 2. The Moors (Black men) civilized Europe and brought education.
Euro-christianity has little or nothing to do with the true Gospel of Christ. The bible was written in Hebrew which is a Canaanite Language(descendent of HAM).the New testament was written in Greek.2 centuries after the apostles passed.
All the apostles were hebrew men.Hebrews are African.
the bible the missionaries brought back was the corrupt Catholic version which has since been discredited by biblical scholars.
They sent missionaries to steal from from Africa.
Since Europe can no longer steal from Africa.Europe has been undergoing an economic decline.
my original premise is that Euros need to stay out of African affairs.Africans do not meddle in euro affairs. Africa belongs to GOD.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ never left Africa. That is why black folk LOVE JESUS so much.Europeans tried to eradicate us in various ways to take over Africa.
I believe that you are a loving person.. i do respect you as a person i just dont agree with you.respectfully submitted…..

            • Melanie Nathan February 29, 2012 at 7:03 AM #

Thank you! That said, what was indeed imported to Africa was the “gospel” as Scott Lively saw it! I was his preaching about homosexuality that sparked the current anti gay pending legislation. The one that orders death for homosexuals in Africa. Civil law and criminal law in modern society is unfree until it separates from religion and should have religion as the basis for its construct. Not in modern society! You fail to note that there are different religions in the world and that many do not subscribe to the Christian religion. Freedom is what we are speaking about! Not religion and the law ensures its separation.

Evangelical Christianity may not be what Jesus or G-d had intended for an evolving world where context change.

Your bigger apology ought to be that which ceases to accuse gay people of genocide for merely being homosexual, a scientifically proven natural born sexual orientation on the broad spectrum ensured by nature!

  4. Debbie February 6, 2012 at 4:21 PM #

Ticket to hell (Arsenal 4ever): As are adulterers, idolaters, whore-mongers, gossips, lyers, slanderers…. Shall I go on? He who lives by the law, dies by the law. Jesus saves through grace and said, ‘Judge not lest ye be judged’ and Paul furthered, ‘Esteem others better than yourself.’ Remember, “he who is without sin, cast the first stone.’

    • bill stult February 28, 2012 at 3:50 AM #

Homosexuality is still humanocide, remember satan knows scripture too. he often disguises himself as an angel of light.
God searches the heart of everyman. YOU know that you are trying to justify sin.
Apostle Paul says do not use your liberty in CHRIST as an excuse to sin…
Only a satanic depressed spirit would condone murder, humanocide.

      • Melanie Nathan February 28, 2012 at 2:27 PM #

there you go…. does that feel good? hehehe

        • bill stult February 28, 2012 at 4:13 PM #

          Proud of you Melanie,
Underneath that tough exterior, is a sweet person.

          • Melanie Nathan February 29, 2012 at 7:05 AM #

Yes, a sweet person ; maybe you have done your research! But schmoozing and pandering does not win you front row seats in heaven! And nor does hate filled talk! And nor does being sweet! If you do indeed believe there is such a front row – many do and many dont, then i recommend you keep your judgment to yourself and allow the creator to do his job !!

            • bill stult March 2, 2012 at 1:35 PM #

i dont kiss up to any human.i dont hate you.i am free to love you as a human being.I disagree with you on this point, that is all.we may agree on other things.I dont judge anything it is the WORD that judges. Believers are under commandment to to Speak HIS WORD.That comes from GOD not man.ANY that hate HIS WORD HATE HIM(GOD).
i dont deal with opinions.I check with the WORD and say what HE says.So your claims of hate is false and of the devil.GOD is LOVE and Jesus is LOVE.HIS WORDS are words of LOVE.GOD knows how to protect his creation and HE will.
To call the WORD of GOD “hate” words is evil beyond measure, to say nothing of ignorance of one that would say something like that.
The WORD of GOD is a living force.None can stop it.You can censor, burn all the bibles you can find..the Word of GOD will never die.

              • Melanie Nathan March 2, 2012 at 2:01 PM #

Actually Mr BS – you are sooo wrong! The WORD does not Judge – only G-d Judges! You disguise your personal Judgment with so called “disagreement” and then you purport to base that on the WORD of G-d. What a lot of hogwash! G-d never wrote the Boble as many Evangelicals would like to believe. The Bible was written by man as a reflection of the stories that happened to include the WORD of G-d. As it happens that has been subject to many years of translation and interpretation.

Lets talk about the Word of G-d via the Bible. At no time does the word “homosexual’ appear in the Bible. “Man laying with man as he would with a woman” in Leviticus does NOT refer to same sex relationships. Nor does it refer to a loving same-sex relationship. If interpreted correctly or according to another interpretation because I acknowledge there may be many, it simply means that “men should not ‘rape/ use’ men” as they would “rape”/ ‘use’ women- given the war context of the phrase.

It has zero to do with a loving relationship between man and man or woman and woman. So if you are relying on that text in your man made, man interpreted Judgment – you my friend are simply trying to play at being G-d; that which you are not! So get over it .

That said, religion and religious beliefs have nothing to do with people’s rights under the law – to equal treatment and equality no matter where they are in this world! Your religion and beliefs may nor coincide with mine and there is NO TRUTH about YOU a until G-d judges you! So do me a favor enough! Enough of your BS hidden behind your own Judgment. I am bored with you – write your own BLOG and attract your own readers! We have heard enough from you. Its the same old meaningless judgmmental goibberish.

Ugandans need to quit killing men and women who are gay or homosexual. I don’t believe your country has the right to kill persons who are homosexual period.

  6. Rob February 6, 2012 at 9:26 PM #

Arsenal 4ever: Your arrogance is exceeded only by your ignorance. Uganda is so far behind the vast majority of the world in its understanding of human psychology and sexuality it iwould be humorous if it wasn’t so sad. People like you flaunt their willfull ignorance as if it is something good instead of the sad, pathetic expression of ignorance and self-loathing it actually is – makes a statement about how far behind your country is. Go ahead, flaunt your stupidity, it won’t change a thing. Humanity is maturing in its understanding of human sexuality and there isn’t a damn thing you can do about it. Uganda will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 18th century – sure, just 3 centuries behind most eveyone else – but that would be an accurate reflection of their current level of intelligence. .

  7. Marc - Sydney February 6, 2012 at 10:29 PM #

Geee buddy… first of all, this piece of verbal diarrhoea that you wrote is laughable ….

What’s even more absurd is your obvious double standards eg citing ‘morality and cultural values and of course God!!!!’ ……. GOD???? Isn’t he the only one who can judge or have you taken it upon yourself to ignore his teachings

I think your values are so far twisted up your rear that it’s making you make dumbe stupid ignorant remarks….

If you’re such a god loving person then perhaps you should take notice of what it says in the Bible in Matthew 7.1…… ‘Judge not lest you be judge’ – soooo moron you’ve just negated your pathetic piece of babble….
