162 Incidents of known persecutory actions targeting LGBT Ugandans, reported between December and May, 2014,  indicating an enormous rise in state sponsored persecution of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Ugandans, proving absolutely that the impact of Uganda’s newly enacted Anti-Homosexuality Act is causing grave life threatening injustices.

This has been exacerbated by Red Pepper and Hello Magazines taking license to OUT LGBT people. What they have essentially engaged in by doing so, is participating in this persecution. Complicit too are Ugandan police, who parade those arrested for suspected ‘gay activities,’ in front of media.  SMUG the coalition human rights defender organization which has released this report notes that these reported cases are probably a mere tip of the iceberg.

I have decided to present screen shots of the incidents here so that people can see just how severe this is.

The heartbreaking truth – People ask me why I started the Emergency Rescue Fund. Here is your answer – All you have to do is scroll down the list below to see.

I have personally received evidence of these events through direct communications with victims and others – not reported here. I started the Rescue Fund in February 2014. We are assisting over 37 LGBT African people currently in hiding or exile and have 50 on our list.

When I saw this report it validated four months of 24/7  crisis management  and provides witness to all the reports and direct accounts which I have personally received from LGBT people who this FUND is supporting.
