Jerusalem pride finally took place this year after two prior cancellations attributed to the summer Gaza war.
The march took place a few days before Rosh Hashana, heralding the Jewish New Year 5775.
Notwithstanding the drop in attendance, it is quite a feat that the organizers were able to pull off such a large attendance given this year’s war.
Hundreds of police officers and border guard officers secured the parade, which was sponsored by The Jerusalem Open House, representing the city’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, or LBGT, community.
The march took place without any negative incidents.
Israel is the only country in the Middle East where LGBT rights are supported and Pride celebrations can be held openly and freely.
