Washington, D.C., June 1, 2011 – Capital Pride announced that Tony Award-winner Jennifer Holliday will replace Kelly Rowland as the Capital Pride Festival’s headlining entertainer.
Jennifer Holliday is best known for her debut single, the Dreamgirls showstopper and Grammy Award-winning R&B/Pop hit, “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.”
“We couldn’t be happier to have Jennifer Holliday join us on the main stage,” said Michael Lutz, executive director of Capital Pride. “She’s a musical legend and long-time LGBT supporter. We’re honored and lucky to have her celebrate Pride with us.”
Rowland was disappointed to announce that the filming schedule for X Factor in Europe forced her to cancel her headlining performance at Capital Pride.
“Kelly looked forward to the performance and whishes everyone a happy Pride,” said Scott Lusk, communications chair for Capital Pride.
