Since Updated 10.07 Pm PST, see below. Early results reveal the IOWA Republican Caucus is the expected tight race, with Texas Rep. Ron Paul, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum locked in battle for the lead. in Iowa’s caucuses.
A surge of independent voters appears to be giving a significant boost to Ron Paul, indicative of a desperate and divided party.
All candidates reflect strong conservative anti-gay views. All candidates are fraught with problems when it comes to who would be electable against President Obama; and so one can only imagine how difficult the delegates are finding it to sway toward one of three bad eggs.
It is no surprise to a GO outsider that not a single candidate is able to garnish enthusiasm across the spectrum of the party.
Romney suggested that he is the most electable, Santorum appeals to Evangelical types, Paul has attracted his posse of younger fans.
With news reports that all had slightly less than a quarter of the vote with about a third of the vote counted, we can look below to the Face Book messages of Clarke Cooper, Director of Log cabin republicans, who is reporting from the trenches.
Goodness know how the Gay Republicans are staying afloat with this motley group of anti-gay has-been candidates. One would think this would have been the group of candidates that would bring the notion of gay-Republican to its final anomalous resting place!
But they go on…..

This may be the most frightening GOP group in a very long time…so much hatred from these people, it’s just awful…Every one of them pushing & shoving the other to win a chance to discriminate & turn the clock back on every good advance that has been made in recent history…
