Amidst concern that it would never come to a vote the great State of New York just passed a roll call signalling that the Governor Cuomo led Marriage Equality Bill. The New York Assembly passed the state’s marriage equality bill on June 15th by a vote of 80-63, paving the way for it to be taken up in the state Senate, and for the stormy few days of uncertainty.
The Religious amendment was voted upon and passed by 36 – 26 votes; and 33 yah and 29 nay votes in the final passage of the Bill.
The Assembly was widely expected to pass the bill, but the state Senate was a much more difficult bet.
We need more Andrew Cuomo’s.
