This is an awesome chronology of recent impacting events in same sex events!!
Beautiful! Well done!
Shalom Melanie! You threw allot at us this week, wow. Told of us hate from two continents. Made us think about who gets our activism money. Made us feel like we don’t do enough. And then end the week making us cry, albeit tears of joy! Your blog was a whirlwind this week. Congratulations Melanie.
I find myself so confused about the groups allot of allow to speak for us. Delaware passes equal rights and five or six organizations take credit….drives me crazy. Who gets my very limited help?
I felt horrible about my activism when You pointed out none of us have been leaders. I am 55 and felt I did what I dared to do. Saying that, I lost promotions twice, and a job! Came out, what I consider late in life, 22. The first hate came from neighbors at ‘our’ apartment. Was told I was in the running for a promotion. Then sorry, geees, Rod, You know all the big decisions with corporate take place on the golf course. If only You golfed he said! I am about the most subtle looking person you may ever see. Not that it should matter. I admire my ‘way out’ brothers and sisters. They are the true trailblazers and brave. Feeling I have to tell what I look like…..makes me a bigot, I know it! As you can hear Melanie, You really hit a nerve.
Tears of joy and some new Heroes too! You are a masterful blogger Melanie. All week hitting us hard, then Thursday a love blog! New York Senator Diane Savino is my Fiance’s hero. She is simply incredible. I loved listening to Washington state rep Maureen Walsh. She stated she couldn’t wax poetic….oh how wrong she is. Her address on the house floor was wonderful. I loved her comparing domestic partnerships to a merry maids franchise! The weddings were fantastic and made me so hopeful. Mr Philip Spooner although, I want him to adopt me! If someone is reading this and not seen his speech on the Maine house floor……go now, watch it. Your day will change!
So I see it all. Share it all with friends, send it especially to my bi-national fiance. Make a cup of tea and realize I feel so normal. Then I think, how sad, allot of the time, you don’t feel normal Rod?
I so appreciate the personalization of you comment Rod. Blogging can be a thankless road at times – costly on many levels- and it takes one comment such as this to make me feel like it is all worth while. So I thank you deeply for that. I also want to say – that we are all spoke in an integral wheel and so do not invalidate your part for a second.. sending best… and thanks…
