Several  prominent human rights, political, community & non-profit organizations, activists and journalists are urging President Obama to reconsider his administration decision, asking the President to expand the Magnitsky List, designed to ban Russian human rights violators from entering the US, and having all their assets at US financial institutions, frozen.

Larry Poltavtsev, President, Spectrum Human Rights noted:

“In Putin’s Russia basic human rights are violated on a daily basis. Russian citizens no longer have a right to free speech, free gathering or free self-expression. Government owned and operated TV channels and mass media spread a message of hatred and violence even calling for burning people alive. In the light of such events we should not let the human rights oppressors enjoy the benefits of free societies. I do hope that many more people will join this letter to the President in the upcoming days. I feel privileged and honored to sign this request together with such accomplished individuals as Andras Simonyi, Jamie Kirchick, Melanie Nathan, Yelena Goltsman, Tanja Nyberg, Slava Revin, Vlad Burlutsky and many others.”
