St. Neots – A large group of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Ugandans descended upon St. Neots, a small town the United Kingdom, to tell anti-gay Christian extremist, Paul Shinners to keep his hate out of Uganda.

The protest was organized by Out and Proud Diamond Group (OPDG) and human rights activists Melanie Nathan and Daniel Law at the Christian coffee shop of Shinners.

The protestors surrounded the Cornerstone Cafe, St. Neots, Cambridgeshire where the large group of LGBTI people, from Africa, held banners and chanted into a megaphone, “Paul Shinners some Ugandans are gay get over it.”- “Preach love not hatred” -“We were all created in God’s image” and “Shinners keep your hate out of Africa”. (see video below).

The group was protesting the evangelical’s support of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill in Uganda, at the time when the Bill was known as ‘The Kill the Gays Bill.’

Paul Shinners, was exposed for his radical Christian extremist view in 2013, when he participated in The 7th National Day of Prayer in Uganda, a Christmas rally, on 31st December 2012. Together with several Ugandan religious leaders, Shinners praised Ugandans for their stance against homosexuality. At the time the Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality Bill containing life in prison and the death penalty had yet to be passed.

Shinners tried to divert attention from his extremist views, professing not to be homophobic in press commentary and emails to  Nathan and Law. However after some time, Law was able to get his hands on the video that shows Shinners preaching praise for the anti-gay law on the Ugandan stage in front of thousands of Ugandan people.

Nathan and Law asked Shinners several times to retract his words and speak out against the Anti-Homosexuality Act, but twelve months went by and he did not say a word, nor did he apologize. The Bill was passed a year after his presence on that stage. The Bill has since been invalidated by the Ugandan Courts, but could be re-tabled in Parliament. It is not too late for Shinners to apologize and come out against the legislation, described by many as “odious” and by some religious leaders as way too harsh and unnecessary.Screen Shot 2014-10-12 at 9.32.59 AM

Edrisa Kiyemba of Out and Proud Diamond group said “its unfortunate that Paul Shinners is a free man in the Uk, yet I cannot be free in my home country – because of his homophobic preaching in Uganda.”

Edwin Sesange of Out and Proud Diamond Group noted that his group had come up from London, especially to inform Shinners that he was not welcome to export his brand of Christianity to Uganda or anywhere in Africa, due to the fact that such preaching has led to much persecution of LGBTI people in Uganda, including members of OPDG, who have had to seek refuge and asylum in the United Kingdom as a result.

Daniel Law is currently producing a documentary film exposing the preacher and his anti-gay work. It is rumored that Shinners conducts so called conversion or reparative practices in the back of the coffee shop.

Melanie Nathan believes that Shinners should have the courage to admit his stand against gays at the time when the Bill was calling for the death penalty and that if he truly does not believe that gays should be jailed for life or put to death, then he must apologize to Uganda’s gays in a public fashion.

The protest was loud and noisy and sends a strong message to Shinners and others who may be inclined to preach on foreign shores. If you have the audacity to go to our Country to preach hate, we will show up in your country, as exiles and on your doorstep to remind you that exporting hate is not okay!

WATCH DANIEL LAW debate Shinners who came outside during the protest. He refuses to take responsibility. You will note that he refers to Melanie Nathan in that video. what he says is a lie. I have the emails proving he is blatantly twisting his story about not being given a chance to respond.  In truth I really dont understand what he is saying as it contradicts the emails. He cannot escape the emails and the video showing him preaching in Uganda.

In the video a Ugandan protestor asks him if he is willing to apologize – he squirms his way around it, continues his bullshit about the video which proves what he said and then becomes the victim and after that tries to threaten the protestors “The police know who you are and what you have done.” Wow and this man cal;ls himself a man of God.  I hope more Christians come forward and stand up against this hate and this brand of Christianity which as the propensity to give all Christians a bad name.  Amongst the Ugandans who protested are pious and religious Christians who deserve to be treated accordingly.

You will note in the one video below Daniel Law chastises Shinners for exorcisms and talking to young 14-15 year old girls about “fisting” and lesbian sex. Laws does not deny the allegations. )
