Mr Gay South Africa 2015 Finalist Dies

By Melanie Nathan, September, 18, 2015.

Dr. Zander Barnard, a Mr. Gay South Africa 2015 finalist and a well known doctor from Cape Town, has passed away at his home at the age of 32.

Screen Shot 2015-09-18 at 6.08.35 PMAccording to a report at Mamba Online, Dr. Barnard graduated with an MBChB from the University of Stellenbosch and specialized in sport and exercise medicine. He was in private practice and consulted for Gentlemen’s Health, a medical service focusing on the needs of men.  “Sporting model good looks, Barnard was also an avid sportsman and believed in incorporating medicine, counseling and exercise in a holistic treatment approach for his patients.”

He was one of the 12 contestants in the Mr Gay South Africa 2015 contest and also assisted with Mr Gay World 2015, which was held in Cape Town and Kynsna, near Cape Town, earlier this year.

Barnard’s family has not released details about his untimely passing.

Last month we reported another loss to the Mr Gay South Africa family with the death of  Charl Van Den Berg , a 2009 Mr Gay South Africa 2009 and a 2010 Mr Gay World.

The huge outpouring of love with expressions of admiration on Zander’s Facebook page are a fitting tribute to a young man who made a difference in the lives of so many – in such a short time.

Our condolences to Mr Gay SA organization and contestants and the family of Dr. Zander Barnard.
