As Uganda is about to see dawn and open its parliament in the next few hours, the world has erupted into protest; from Paris to New York and back to London, with a tinge of Denmark and more, showing extreme horror at the idea that the Anti-Homosexuality Bill could feasibly see its way toward passage in a matter of hours. Activists around the world want the Ugandan gay community to know we are all at one with  through this uncertain and difficult time, and that we will push our Governments to help  our fellow Africans who are persecuted and stigmatized for who they are.

Gay Ugandans: The World Stands With You, an ad hoc Facebook Coalition just forming now, providing information and support on the Kill the Gays Bill is reporting the following future and current protests that will take place to support LGBTI Ugandans against Government persecution.  If you have any protests or actions you would like to publicize please inform the administrators of the Page by submitting a request via Message at https://www.facebook.com/GayUgandansTheWorldStandsWithYou

Upcoming actions include London on Thurs, Dec. 6, 2 p.m. Ugandan Embassy. More information will be added.

Petitions & Campaigns

In addition to the protests numerous petitions are circulating: We only recommend the accurate petitions and caution against those providing false assertions such as that by CREDO, DAILY KOS and ALLOUT which target President Museveni to VETO the Bill. The problem is Museveni cannot VETO the Bill. See Process at http://gayusathemovie.com/2012/12/uganda-parliaments-process-explained-to-pass-the-kill-the-gays-bill/

Instead we recommend you sign the GetEQUAL Petition which can be found at http://getequal.org/Uganda and then also follow the guideline to participate in GetEQUAL’s “Uganda ARREST ME TOO” Campaign. The GetEQUAL Petition.

GetEQUAL has launched “Uganda, Arrest Me Too” as part of a two tier campaign, which includes a petition to target the extreme right wing Evangelical Pastors, Scott Lively, Rick Warren, and Lou Engel, who are alleged to be complicit in the initiation of the Ugandan Bill, as well as the United States Senators who are associated with them through membership to the secretive C Street Family.  These Senators include James Mint (R-SC), James Inofe (R-OK), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Mike Enzi (R-ID).  The Senators are being asked to publicly denounce the Anti-Homosexuality Bill and to ask Ugandan members of parliament who are members of “The Family” such as its chairman Ugandan MP and author of the Bill David Bahati, “to kill the bill.”
